Franklin Film Forum

From the presenter, Michael Paxton:

For our first film of 2026, we'll be starting almost at the beginning of cinema with the first silent film we've shown at the Forum. Buster Keaton's "The Cameraman," a comedy that is cinematically innovative and amazing in its execution, is one of the more entertaining examples of early filmmaking about filmmaking. It presents an action-packed look at the daring newsreel camera operators who risked their lives to secure footage of live events, and makes a sly statement about the art of the documentary as well.

Made in 1928, just as the industry was transitioning to sound, Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman flickers with his comic genius. Please join us and also see one of the best "monkey mascot" performances ever put on film!

The Franklin Film Forum is presented by Michael Paxton, an Oscar-nominated producer and director.

See you then!
