Banned Book Week

Once again, we are celebrating our right to read during Banned Book Week.  The American Library Association organizes Banned Book Week every September to fight censorship and make us aware that there are hundreds of books  that school and libraries around the country try to rremove from their shelves.  Come check out some books that have been banned . Words have power!

 

COLUMBUS WEEKEND BAKE SALE

The Franklin Free Library will be having a bake sale on Sunday October 8 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Franklin Farmers’ Market.  We will be posting a sign up sheet in the library shortly.

TOMES AND SCONES

 The next meeting of our book club is on October 7 at 10:00 AM.  We will be reading Saint Odd by Dean Koontz.  All are welcome

NEW THINGS AT THE LIBRARY

  • Check out our new books.   Patti and Wendy are always ordering newly released books. Look for them on designated shelves!
  • Did you know we have the NY Times on our computers?
  • We have Kindles that patrons can borrow like a book. One Kindle has best selling titles and the other one has mysteries and suspense. Just ask the librarian or volunteer and they will help you.
  • Check out our periodicals for some new titles. Fast Company, GQ, Popular Science and coming soon Sports Illustrated and Sports Illustrated for kids, Ranger Rick and a few more.
  •  We now have DVD’s our patrons can borrow.  You can check out three dvds at a  time.
