Franklin Library Goes Digital!
The Franklin Free Library is moving into the digital age! This year we installed Wi-fi (wireless internet access) inside the library (bring in your laptop and give it a try!), and set up this website to keep you up-to-date on what's happening at the library and provide access to useful online resources.
The next step in our continuing goal of providing first-rate service to the community is to make Franklin a fully-automated library!
PHASE ONE of the process, already begun, is to re-register all our borrowers. You can help us move forward by picking up an application on your next trip to the library, or printing one out at home:
Once we've received your completed application form and entered the information from your application into our computer system, we'll give you a new barcoded library card. (NOTE: If you already have a barcoded library card from another library in the 4CLS system, you may re-register for a Franklin card, but you cannot maintain both cards.)
You may be wondering, 'What's in this for me?' Well for starters, with your barcoded library card AND a home computer with internet access, you can:
- Save time & gas by requesting materials (books, videos, DVDs, etc.) from libraries throughout the 4-County system*, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! With a Franklin card, you will now be able to pick up the materials in Franklin.
- Avoid overdue fines by renewing materials* online — 24/7!
- Log in to your account to see a list of all the materials you currently have checked out*, and their due dates — 24/7!
- Access a great collection of premium resources, including business & company information; full-text magazine & newspaper articles; homework help; Morningstar financial reports; health resources; genealogy materials; practice tests for civil service, occupational licensing, and school entrance exams ... and lots more — 24/7!
- Check out books in person at other 4-County libraries.
Please visit our website, www.franklinfreelibrary.org, for more information.
*NOTE: PHASE TWO of the automation process will be to barcode all our own books and other materials, and enter them into the computer system. Until our own collection is barcoded, these benefits will apply only to materials from other 4CLS libraries, not to materials from Franklin or other libraries which are not automated.
